Parties to the Convention

The LRTAP Convention has been ratified by 51 Parties: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, European Union, Finland, France, North Macedonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Rep. of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ukraine, United Kingdom and United States of America.

Emission trends and review results are often presented separately for the geographical areas EMEP West and  EMEP EastEMEP West covers EU27 +UK + EFTA + Monaco + WB and EMEP East covers the EECCA countries + Türkiye.

EU27 includes 27 countries:  Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary,  Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

EFTA includes four countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

WB (West Balkan) includes five countries: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

EECCA (Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia) includes the following 12 countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.  All of them except three countries (Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) ratified CLRTAP.

The Artic Council (AC) consist of eight Arctic States: Canada, the Kingdom of Denmark, Finland,  Iceland, Norway, the Russian Federation, Sweden and the United States. 
In addition, six organizations representing Arctic indigenous peoples have the status of Permanent Participants: the Aleut International Association, the Arctic Athabaskan Council, Gwich’in Council International, the Inuit Circumpolar Council, Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North and the Saami Council.
