Emissions as used in EMEP models
This site contains national totals, sector data and gridded emission data used in EMEP/MSC-W reports , and by EMEP/MSC-E. These emission data are based on officially reported emissions to the extent possible, but some of the officially reported data have been corrected and/or gap-filled. More details are provided in the annual CEIP&EEA technical reports.

User Guide
Gridded emissions as used in EMEP models are not available via WebDab, but you can download the gap-filled gridded data in 0.1° x 0.1° (long/lat) resolution directly from the CEIP website. Here you can find more information about the spatial distributed emission data for EMEP models.
Emission data is based on officially reported emissions to the extent possible, but some of the officially reported data have been corrected and gaps have been filled.
Countries/Areas:
The field contains a list of all countries reporting to the UNECE. Also included are other areas where emission values are only expert estimates (ship emissions, natural marine emissions, North Africa and remaining Asian areas). At the top of the list there are four collective entries (ALL, EU27, International shipping, ALL except international shipping).
Years:
Years for which gap-filled data as used in EMEP models is available.
Output format:
Two selections are possible – National Total/Sectors in either HTML or colon separated data format.
Pollutants:
Pollutants are grouped into four different lists:
- Main Pollutants: The main acidifying and eutrophying pollutants.
- PM: Particulate matter: PM10, PM2.5 and PMcoarse.
- Heavy metals: As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, Se and Zn.
- POP: Persistent organic pollutants.
Sectors:
All sectors available refer to GNFR. The totals/sectors are the sum of the gridded data sectors GNFR_A to GNFR_M.
HTML Table (columns and rows):
Here you can choose which data you want to display in the columns and rows of the HTML table, depending on your needs. You can also preselect the result unit, which can be changed directly on the result page too.
Information and footnotes:
If you wish to see the comments to emissions as used in EMEP models, please flag this item. An CEIP internal report code (for example CEIP-MAIN-PM-BC-2023) together with the date the emissions were imported to WebDab (for example 2023-06-30) will also appear.
If you choose to display HTML tables, the information will appear as footnotes at the bottom of the HTML tables. You can also hide and unhide this information directly in the result page.
The user should refer to the report code if having questions to a certain set of data.
